A box window is not so much a style of window as it is how the window is placed in the façade of a home. When a window of any style is placed in a box that extends beyond the surrounding façade it’s called a box window. This example shows a home with a casement window in the box. On the interior, box windows typically are located above the floor and include a broad window sill. If they are sufficiently deep they can include a window seat.
