Year around comfort can be improved by installing high and low return air grilles with shut-off dampers in each. During the heating season the high grille is shut off, thus allowing the system to draw the cooler air near the floor back into the furnace to be reheated. During the cooling season the low grille is shut off instead, thus allowing the warmer air near the ceiling to be drawn back to the air conditioner to be cooled.
