Rare in Wisconsin but easy to identify, with its steep mansard roof and usually including a railing at the top of the roof and lightning rods as part of the design, a French Second Empire could never be accused of being plain. The more elaborate homes feature sculpted details around the doors, windows and dormers. Symmetry and strong vertical lines with tall window. This is another example of revival style architecture in the United States; most were built in the late 1800s.
