Term commonly included in foreclosure sales information and purchase agreements to notify the buyer that no expressed or implied warranty is provided. Properties being sold by a personal representative might also be sold ‘As Is’ since the seller has no personal knowledge of the property. In an ‘As Is’ sale the buyer takes the property at his or her own risk, without recourse against the seller. You might find the words “Caveat Emptor” in seller provided documents.
