Abbreviation for “Americans with Disabilities Act”, it is a wide ranging civil rights law that prohibits, under certain circumstances, discrimination based on disability.  Title III of the Act included new guidelines for public buildings.  Most public building after 1992 must be ADA compliant. Wider doors, no steps or ramp alternatives, elevators when buildings have more than one story and at least one larger enclosure in public restrooms all are the welcome changes this Act mandated.
