An appealing community located along the Milwaukee River, Grafton truly is a place that preserves its past while looking to the future. Older neighborhoods of well-cared for affordable homes and newer outlying neighborhoods offer options for home buyers. The large inventory of vacant land is a testament to this community’s growth.
Since about 2000 Grafton has added an extensive retail and commercial district along Hwy 60 at I-43 and a large regional hospital as well. Located just out of sight around the corner, this new development does not encroach on the charm of the original town. Residents here enjoy several parks that offering swimming, fishing, picnicking and kayaking. The Ozaukee County Trail also runs through it. Running from the Milwaukee County line all the way north to Oostburg, it is almost entirely located on the old interurban line to Sheboygan and is paved for its whole length.
