“G-town” as the locals call it offers a large stock of moderately priced well-kept homes. Many of its neighborhoods have a “city” feel to them, but outlying areas have a suburban character. Mequon Road today is its main street. There’s no shortage of shopping conveniences among the “German-esque” architecture. Germantown began as a small farming community centered around Main Street, located just a half mile to the north. Located “kitty corner” to the northwest tip of Milwaukee County, Germantown is convenient to the resources of Milwaukee, while also just a “stones throw” from the county line.
